MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF HARWICH TOWN COUNCIL PLANNING COMMITTEE
HELD ON

at THE 1912 CENTRE, COW LANE, HARWICH

Also present: 1 member of the press and 10 members of the public

Mrs B Holbrook referred to the former Harwich County Primary School and asked if Harwich Town Council could help to put pressure onto the George Street site to use the same boarding. Councillor Payne advised that this cannot be enforced as it is the developer’s responsibility but he would ask them. Councillor B Brown stated that all the asbestos had been safely removed.

P34/09 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
Apologies for absence were received from Councillors J Brown, P Burke, S Henderson, B Howlett, A Morrison and D Rutson.

P35/09 DECLARATIONS OF MEMBERS’ INTERESTS
Councillor D McLeod declared he is a member of Tendring District Council’s Development and Control Committee. Councillor L Payne declared he is Chairman of Governors for the Harwich Community School. Councillor G Calver declared he is a member of the Executive Committee of The Harwich Society.

P36/09 MINUTES OF THE LAST MEETING
RESOLVED: that the minutes of the meeting held on 5th August 2009 (previously circulated) be approved by the Chairman and signed as a true record. The committee noted that the Planning Committee meeting scheduled for the 26th August 2009 was inquorate.

P37/09 PLANNING APPLICATIONS
The Committee considered a schedule of planning applications for weeks ending 21st August, 28th August and 4th September 2009.
RESOLVED: that the recommendations of Appendix ‘A’ are submitted to Tendring District Council.
Ref: Application 09/00869/FUL: ‘The Committee refused the application because of overdevelopment of the site and proximity to the Harwich Community School boundary.

P38/09 PLANNING APPLICATION 07/1143/FUL CAPITAL HOUSE, HARWICH
The Committee noted a letter received from The Harwich Society regarding breach of conditions by George Wimpey developers over the provision of adequate fencing on both sides the wildlife corridor. A further letter from Tendring District Council had been sent to The Harwich Society, stating that they were investigating the complaint.
RESOLVED: to write to the Planning Enforcement Officer at Tendring District Council, copy letter to Mr J Hawkins, The Chief Executive giving full support to The Harwich Society as this was not the first time that problems had been experienced regarding the wildlife corridor, close to Bobbits Hole.

P39/09 DATE OF THE NEXT MEETING
The next meeting of the Town Planning Committee will be held at 6.30pm on 7th October 2009 at The 1912 Centre, Harwich.
The Chairman closed the meeting at 6.50pm
