Have Your Say on the Ardleigh Neighbourhood Plan Area
Initial views are wanted on proposals to create a neighbourhood plan for Ardleigh.
Ardleigh Parish Council are taking the first steps to prepare a neighbourhood plan for the village.
The Parish Council applied to Tendring District Council (TDC) to determine the area to be covered by the plan; the first stage in the process.
Whilst the district’s own emerging Local Plan gathers pace in its preparation, parish and town councils can also prepare their own individual neighbourhood plans.
These help local people directly shape the place where they live and work – allowing them to identify their own vision for how their area should develop for the future.
An eight week consultation by TDC runs until 16 March, with residents and other interested parties invited to comment.
Consultation on the contents of the neighbourhood plan itself will follow, and this first stage is only about the area to be included with the proposed plan.
Nick Turner, Chairman of TDC’s Planning Policy and Local Plan Committee, encouraged people to have their say.
“Neighbourhood Plans are a great way for local areas to shape their future, and also provide further detail as we dive down from our district Local Plan,” Cllr Turner said.
“Neighbourhood Plans are most successful when the local community is engaged with them and apply their local knowledge, so I would urge you – especially if you live or work in Ardleigh – to get involved.”
The application can be inspected at the Council Offices in Weeley or on the TDC website at https://www.tendringdc.gov.uk/ardleigh-neighbourhood-plan
