YOU ARE SUMMONED TO ATTEND
the
ANNUAL STATUTORY & MAYOR MAKING MEETING
to be held at
The Guildhall, Church Street, Harwich
on
Thursday 16th May 2024
at 11.00am
Prayers will be said
Prior to commencement of the meeting

1. The Mayor will invite nominations for Chairman and
Mayor for the forthcoming year. Proposer: Cllr G Calver
Seconder: Cllr C Powell
2. The Mayor will ask if there are any further
nominations. If there are none, she will ask
Councillor Morrison whether she accepts the
Office of Chairman and Mayor for the forthcoming year.
3. Councillor Morrison will signify her assent. The
Mayor will then formally put the motion to members.
4. Councillor Morrison will make her Declaration of
Acceptance of Office and chair the rest of the meeting.
5. The newly elected Mayor will invite Proposer: Cllr D Chable
nominations for Deputy Mayor for the Seconder: Cllr D McLeod
forthcoming year.
6. The Mayor will ask if there are any further
nominations. If there are none, she will ask
Councillor Todd if he accepts the Office
of Deputy Mayor.
7. Councillor Todd will signify his assent. The
Mayor will then formally put the motion to
members.
8. Councillor Todd will make his Declaration of
Acceptance of Office.

10. The Mayor will announce the appointment of her
Chaplain, the Reverend Kirsty Emerson.
11. The Mayor, retiring Mayor and Deputy Mayor, led by the Mace Bearer, will then retire in order to change robes.

12. The Mayor will return thanks for election.
13. The Mayor will announce her consort.
14. The Mayor’s Consort will respond.
15. To appoint Officers, Committees and Proposer: Cllr D Chable
Representatives for the forthcoming year. Seconder: Cllr B Davidson
16. To determine the time of meetings of the Proposer: Cllr M Fowler
Council in accordance with Standing Orders Seconder: Cllr L Armstrong

17. To authorise the Clerk to pay invoices in Proposer: Cllr C Powell
Accordance with Financial Regulations. Seconder: Cllr S Richardson
18. Vote of thanks to the retiring Mayor. Proposer: Cllr B Davidson
19. The retiring Mayor will reply.
20. The Mayor will close the meeting.
